Label size is the specification to get right before ordering. Your printer must physically accept the width, and the label size must be set in the software that drives it — a mismatch between the two is the usual cause of print creeping across the gap or the printer feeding blank labels.

This is a common size for product, shelf and small parcel labels.

Recalibrate the printer whenever you change label size or supplier. It takes a moment and prevents a whole class of alignment complaints.
